Sautéed Shrimp

Tossing sauteed shrimp in a garlic butter sauce with shallots and parmesan is a classic Italian appetizer. The simple and classic combination is easy to duplicate, but the real trick is to cut the tiny shrimp into smaller pieces so that they cook evenly, giving them great texture and flavor.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 6 minutes
Total Time: 16 minutes

Ingredients:

Garlic Butter Sauce:

  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 2 Tbsp parmesan grated
  • 2 tsp garlic minced
  • 1 tsp shallot minced

Shrimp:

  • 1 lb raw jumbo shrimp
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper

Instructions:

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine all of the ingredients for the garlic butter sauce and melt. Remove from the equation.
  2. Using paper towels, pat the shrimp dry.
  3. In a small bowl, combine paprika, garlic salt, and pepper. Season the shrimp on both sides with the seasonings.
  4. 1 tablespoon butter, melted in a pan over medium heat. Add the shrimp to the skillet when the butter starts to bubble. Cook for 3 minutes on one side before flipping and cooking for 3 minutes more. The shrimp will curl up and become opaque, displaying brilliant red and pink hues.
  5. Toss in the butter sauce in the skillet to coat. Remove the shrimp right away so they don’t continue to cook.
