Prep Time: 25 minutes

Total Time: 2 Hours 26 minutes

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup cajeta

Cake:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 6 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup butter softened
  • 2 ½ tbsp butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp strong brewed coffee
  • 1 cup whole milk

Flan:

  • 2 ½ cups evaporated milk
  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Set oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 10-inch fluted tube pan’s base and sides. Dust with flour sparingly, tapping off any extra.
  2. Water should be added to a shallow baking pan until the walls of the tube pan are 1/3 of the way up the pan. While the oven is heating up, place the water bath inside.
  3. Put caramel sauce in a bowl that can go in the microwave. For about a minute, microwave until warm and pourable. Pour into the tube pan that has been made, completely covering the base.
  4. In a bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and baking powder.
  5. Using an electric mixer, blend 1/2 cup plus 2 1/2 tablespoons of butter in a bowl. Blend in sugar and beat until frothy and light. Add coffee and one egg, and beat. Mix thoroughly in between additions as you alternately add milk and the flour mixture. In the tube pan, evenly spread the cake batter over the caramel.
  6. In the bowl of a food processor, mix the evaporated milk, condensed milk, 4 eggs, and vanilla essence. Process until smooth. Apply cake batter after passing through a fine sieve.
  7. A toothpick inserted into the chocolate cake should come out clean after about an hour of baking in the water bath in the preheated oven.
  8. Give cake an hour or so to cool. After carefully loosening the cake’s edges with a thin knife, place a serving dish on top and flip the cake onto the plate.
