The Best Potato Salad Recipe

If your family is like mine, you eat a lot of potato salads. Like out-ofthis-world, too much potato salad kind of a lot. But I made this one and now everyone calls me a hero. I guess that’s what happens when you learn to cook the perfect traditional American potato salad recipe.

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Chill Time: 2 Hours
Total Time: 2 Hours 35 minutes

  • 2 ½ pounds of potatoes
  • 6 hard-boiled eggs
  • 1 cup celery
  • ½ cup radishes
  • 2 green onions
  • Paprika

  • ¾ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup relish
  • 2 tbsp cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp dijon or yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • salt & pepper to taste

  1. Boil the potatoes until they are soft in salted water (approx. 15 minutes). Allow to cool completely.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all of the dressing ingredients. Toss in the remaining ingredients thoroughly. (To make it creamy, I slightly mashed part of the potatoes while combining.)
  3. Before serving, chill for at least two hours.
