Roasted Onions

Roasted onions are versatile, and they make a great side to a few different dishes. They’re especially delicious with grains such as chicken and rice. Roasted onions taste best when they’re crispy and caramelized after being roasted in the oven.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 6 minutes
Total Time: 16 minutes

  • 2 large onions
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 3 tbsp water
  • ⅛ tsp kosher salt or to taste
  • ⅛ tsp freshly ground black pepper

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Melted butter and balsamic vinegar are combined in a mixing bowl.
  3. Remove the rings from the onions and cut them into 12″ slices.
  4. Brush the onions with the butter mixture in a greased baking dish. It’s fine if they run into each other.
  5. Fill the casserole dish halfway with water.
  6. Roast for 40-50 minutes, or until brown and tender, seasoning with salt and pepper.
