Tagliarini with Saffron Cream Sauce

You can serve up this sumptuous dish at a dinner party or on a weekday using the opulent creamy pasta and sauce. With this opulent, quick, and simple Tagliarini with Saffron Cream Sauce dish, you can go above and beyond the typical cream sauce. Also prepared in about 15 minutes!

Serve with my Perfect Garlic Bread as a side dish for a satisfying midweek meal that the whole family will enjoy.

Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound dried pasta
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 Pinch of saffron threads
  • 1 pint of heavy cream
  • ½ teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest un-waxed lemon
  • 6 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • fresh parsley chopped
  • salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

 

Instructions:

  1. Large saucepan of salted water should be brought to a boil.
  2. In the meantime, heat a big skillet with the butter over medium heat.
  3. For about 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally, sauté the garlic and saffron.
  4. Turn the heat up to medium-high before adding the cream.
  5. Simmer for two to three minutes, or until slightly thickened. Add the lemon juice and stir.
  6. When the water is boiling, add the pasta and cook as directed on the package.
  7. After draining the pasta and adding it to the skillet with the sauce, remove 12 cups of the cooking water.
  8. Stir in the Parmesan cheese and lemon zest before adding the leftover boiling water.
  9. Pepper and salt to taste.
  10. Serve with additional cheese and parsley on top.
