Outback Steakhouse Bloomin Onion: A large onion cut to look like a flower, deep-fried to perfection and served with a spicy bloom sauce, perfect as an appetizer or a side dish

Since the establishment’s opening, the Outback Steakhouse has been known for its Blooming Onion. You may create this appetizer menu dish the same way they do without using any special equipment. When you prepare this blooming onion at home, you can work some magic in the kitchen.

Ingredients:

  • 4 large sweet onion
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 tsp garlic minced
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp pepper
  • 12-ounce beer

Seasoned Flour:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

 

Instructions:

  1. Cornstarch, flour, and seasonings should all be thoroughly combined.
  2. When adding the beer, combine well. approximately 3/4 “Peel the top of the onion. Be cautious not to cut through the bottom root end of the onion when you make 12 to 16 vertical slices into it. the equivalent of 1 “of petals snipped from the center of the onion. Although you might wish to slightly separate the onion petals, take care not to put the onion at risk.
  3. Onion should be dipped in flour and shaken to remove excess. Separate the petals and thoroughly batter them.
  4. Put a dip in the batter. Redip into the flour mixture. Place gently in the fryer basket and deep-fry for one and a half minutes at 375 to 400 degrees.
  5. Fry for an additional one and a half minutes after turning. On paper towels, drain. With an apple corer or circular cutter, remove the onion’s center core while holding it upright in a small basin. With creamy chili sauce, serve hot.
