Your go-to side dish will be Honey Balsamic Brussels Sprouts, which are crunchy and garlicky in an amazing sauce and only take 25 minutes to prepare.

Brussels sprouts are delicious! I’m constantly coming up with new recipes, like my Creamy Brussels Sprouts with Bacon and Roasted Brussels Sprouts, to convert those who claim they don’t like them! And let me tell you, my success rate is really high!

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
  • salt & pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, warm the oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers (but not smoke)
  2. Cut side down, and put the half Brussels sprouts in the hot, shimmering oil. Until they form a caramelized sear, let them cook unattended for 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Sauté for another minute after adding the garlic. Add a little pepper and salt for seasoning. When the Brussels sprouts are beginning to become slightly soft in the center, add the water and continue to simmer, stirring periodically (they will finish cooking in the sauce). Cook the sauce until it reaches the desired thickness (about 6 to 8 additional minutes).
  4. Add honey, soy sauce, and vinegar after stirring. Until the sauce somewhat reduces and thickens, continue to boil while stirring for another one to two minutes.
  5. Before serving, taste the food for flavor and add additional salt if necessary.
