The chocolate pots de creme recipe is a decadent, easy-to-make dessert that will blow your socks off. My husband and I received a dinner invitation from friends one weekend. I didn’t want to arrive without anything because it was somewhat last-minute. Even though I didn’t have a lot of time or ingredients, I was still able to make these quickly after doing a quick inventory of my kitchen.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Refrigeration Time: 1 Hour
Total Time: 1 Hour 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1½ cups whipping cream heavy cream
  • 12 ounces bittersweet/dark chocolate chopped
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp coffee granules
  • 1 pinch of kosher salt

Instructions:

  1. Simply reheat the cream in a microwave or small saucepan.
  2. Pour the heated cream over the chopped chocolate in a medium bowl. Observe for five minutes.
  3. Combine the cream, chocolate, and egg yolks after fully whisking the yolks.
  4. Whisk in the salt, coffee, and vanilla after adding them, then cover with plastic wrap and chill for one to three hours, or until cool and somewhat hard (different chocolates take different times to set back up after melting). You need the consistency that can be disseminated.
  5. For whipped frosting, use an electric mixer to whip (or beat) the mixture for about 3 minutes, or until it is light, fluffy, and forms stiff peaks. around 2 cups of frosting are produced (enough for 12 cupcakes).
  6. Put plastic wrap over the pots de crème and chill for at least an hour.
